Chiara Salomoni - Underwater Photographer
My name is Chiara. I dedicated my existence to art, photography, and nature. On this site, I want to share my art and my vision with you.
With my photography I aspire to open a little window on the beautiful wild planet we live on, and inspire respect and love for every creature and ecosystem.
I grew up in Italy, exploring the sea all over Europe. I pursued artistic studies starting in high school, and after university it became clear that a life underwater was my dream. From fine art and painting, I proceeded to study photography, moving to Santa Barbara, California where the only school in the world that offered underwater photography was located. There, I specialized in underwater portraits while exploring the ocean and deserts to satisfy my need to get lost in nature.
While still in school, I got involved in the conservation world, making it my mission to shine a light on different issues effecting the planet and especially the ocean.
I founded my own projects and joined efforts with organizations like Keiko Conservation, leading up to creating Mermaids For Change, a traveling program that linked art, conservation and education to inspire kids allover the world to be better for our planet.
Shortly after, I was offered a position as Photographer for One Ocean Diving in Hawaii to make a difference daily in ocean and shark conservation and education. That's where I live and create art now surrounded by likeminded people and artists.
